Mineral wool installation process

Mineral wool installation process

First of all, when we insulate the building using mineral wool, its facade should be completely cleaned, and all unnecessary things should be put away. It is necessary to make the surface as smooth as possible. Particular attention should be paid to metal parts. There should be no of them. A year later, they could get rusty and it would spoil the very look of the building.
At the next stage the surface should be cleaned from dust, paint and plaster. The smoother and flatter the surface is, the better the result will be. The prepared surface is divided into zones by means of horizontal, vertical and diagonal cords. Then, the laths are mounted on these areas and are fixed by dowels. At this stage, it is necessary to prepare a special adhesive for mineral wool. Sometimes manufacturers indicate on the pack what kind of adhesive is suitable for this or that type of wool.
The adhesive is put on the back side of mineral wool board. The amount of adhesive should be sufficient. In case it is not enough, the wool will not hold; and if it is too much of adhesive, the efficiency of wool will decrease. The prepared boards can be stuck to the wall. In such a way, all zones should be filled.
Then mineral wool is treated with special protective substance, which is applied with a thin layer on the wool. The entire construction is strengthened with reinforcing mesh, which is pressed into the wool. One more protective layer is put on the top.
Special plaster should be applied to the whole area of facade in order to prolong durability of mineral wool. This is done to protect mineral wool from mechanical damage. This kind of surface is also more attractive. The plaster should be paid particular attention too. When you use polymer-cement plaster, the operation process should be ongoing, without changing the water and plaster consistency. Otherwise, the joints will show up, and it will spoil the look of the building. Fresh plaster should be protected from rain for one day. If the paint is colorful, then it should be protected for 3 days. If the weather is wet, it is necessary to isolate the facade for a few days.
